Department of Computer Science
The Department of Computer Science was established in the year 2014. It is an integral part of the Department of Commerce since the UG Course Career Related B.Com with Computer Applications is intertwined with the Computer Science Department. The department was formed with the primary objective of providing high quality education in the field of finance and banking through Information Technology.
It endeavours to produce outstanding commerce graduates with excellent computer knowledge and skills, contributing to the fields of finance and banking. The training aims to prepare young minds for the challenging opportunities and burgeoning demands in the field of finance.
OBJECTIVES
- To innovate the areas of Computer Applications in the fields of commerce, finance and banking
- To advance and enhance commercial application and visual application development
- To build interest in students for specialised research in inventing new data base systems in the fields of finance and banking

To promote innovation-centric education in Commerce through Information Technology in pace with the continuous and progressively changing world.
MISSION
- To provide a learning environment that helps students to enhance problem solving skills, be successful in their professional lives and prepare them to be lifelong learners
- To provide exposure to students to the latest tools and technologies of computer hardware and software, and supporting society by participating in and encouraging technology transfer
- To encourage students to pursue online certification courses for value addition
INTERNATIONAL WEBINAR
The Department of Commerce and Computer Science conducted an international webinar on Friday, 6th November 2020. Around 102 participants took part in the webinar. The topic of the webinar was ‘PANDEMICS, TRADE AND GLOBAL CHANGE : A RAPID ASSESSMENT OF COVID 19’. The webinar started at 10 a.m. The keynote address at the webinar was delivered by Dr. Varughese K. John, Associate Professor and Program Director at the Graduate School of Advanced Technology, Assumption University, Thailand. Er. Abraham K. John, HOD Computer Science, gave the welcome speech. The Principal Dr. K. M. Francis delivered the presidential address. Prof. M. X. George, HOD Commerce, felicitated and welcomed the keynote speaker Dr. Varughese K. John. The vote of thanks was delivered by Mrs. Preetha G. Nair, Assistant Professor, Department of Commerce. The webinar, which came to a close at 11.30 a.m, was a huge success and was very well appreciated by all the participants.
