    Message from the Founder

Education for Just, Effective and Open Society

Catholic Church is the largest provider of higher education in the world. In these institutions we accept anyone regardless of religious affiliation, caste, color, nationality or civil status. “That all may have life and have it in abundance”. (St John 10/10) In these biblical lines no one is excluded from receiving the life in abundance which is the ultimate aim of education. The vision of our higher education is explained clearly by the ‘Office of Education and Culture’, Catholic Bishop’s Conference of India integrating from the guidelines and reflections of the Congregation for Catholic Education, published in October 2002. “Education is to teach the students to live, to discover the deeper meaning of life and of transcendence to learn, to interact with others, love creation, think freely and critically, find fulfillment in work, plan their future, or in one word to learn to be’. It is in and through education that one can hope for a more human and a humane future and a more harmonious society” (“Consecrated persons and their mission in schools’82- 84).

    Message from Patron

The Malankara Syrian Catholic Diocese of Parassala, in its educational mission, assumes an approach that is integral and wholistic. True education should concern the whole person as he or she is placed on the larger global platform. An integral approach to education attends to all the diverse aspects of the human personality such as the physical, emotional, intellectual, reflective, aesthetic, moral, spiritual etc. and tries to promote all the positive values associated with them. But the ulterior aim of education is beyond the individual. By bringing out the best in the individual, it transcends the individual for the enhancement of the national and global values.

Mother Theresa College of Arts and Science strives to serve the society, basing itself on this educational conviction. Though situated in a purely rural background, it is global in its prospects and potential. We have an excellent team of teachers who are known for their outstanding academic qualification, wealth of experience, untiring commitment, and compassionate accompaniment of the students. Our campus maintains a free, clean, cordial and eco-friendly ambience conducive to serious academic as well as co-curricular activities. We insist on quality and discipline which would ensure personal growth and responsibility and the promotion of human and social values. By going through the formative programme in this institution, a student is enabled to establish him or herself in the modern world, to face the challenges of life confidently and to make creative contributions to the larger human society.

    Message from the Principal

Education has the most crucial role to play in moulding responsible citizens and thereby shaping the future of the nation and the world. Hence the educational services that we offer must be a living expression of God’s love and must be inspired by a vision for creating sustainable world that is marked by diversity, interdependence and harmonious coexistence.

Our prime concerns should include high standards of integrity, commitment, positive integration of advanced technology and environmental responsibility. While preserving our cherished values and heritage, education should also aim at generating and disseminating knowledge within a learner-centred paradigm that enriches the lives of all, fosters the well-being of the community and addresses the needs of the marginalised.

Education thus becomes an empowering process by which every learner gains opportunity to realise their fullest potential. This can be achieved only when the institution provides quality education in a dynamic and challenging, learning environment whereby all students acquire knowledge, skills and ethics essential for academic excellence and success in life.

    Rt. Rev. Fr. Philip Oozhunalloor

Rt. Rev. Philip Oozhunallur Corepiscopo, President , St. Philips Charitable Society and the Vice- Chairman of the Mother Theresa College, was largely instrumental in the setting up of this institution of learning. He was a person of very strong faith and was widely admired and revered for his intellectual robustness, his courage, simplicity and humility. He has been a lesson in learning. He has spent more than five decades of his life, amongst the poor and the marginalized sections of society in the area. He has been instrumental in the upliftment of the downtrodden in these areas, irrespective of their faith, caste, creed or colour.

A social reformer and missionary par excellence, he was of the firm conviction that it is only through education than one can improve the life of a person and it is in this strong belief that he has strived and made certain that affordable, quality education is not the privilege of the wealthy and the rich, but also that of the needy and the downtrodden. In this endevaour, he has zealously strived and set up few quality driven educational institutions in the region, with the abundant blessings of God Almighty. Mother Theresa College is one among those institutions that he helped set up by providing the whole land required for setting up this HEI.
